Top 3 Web Browsers

Top 3 Web Browsers for Windows

For surfing the web, a top web browser is not only required but appreciated. You’ll surely feel more comfortable knowing that your browser is secure and reliable. After all, it is involved in sensitive procedures like storing passwords, accessing secured sites for online banking and so on.
Today, we’ll take a look at some of the browsers that have come and gone and list the top web browsers of all time.

The first ever web browser was WorldWideWeb. Soon, Mosaic was released in 1993, and Microsoft launched the widely-used Internet Explorer in 1995. With an increase in the number of people exposed to the Internet, the browser war soon started. Now, there are a variety of browsers, some even designed for specific purposes like social networking. Some are widely used, and some vanished before they’re heard of.
Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera are the top web browsers today.

1. Firefox

Firefox has a fairly decent share of the web browser market with a healthy 21.86%. It is mainly because Firefox is an open source web browser withexceptional community support. Along with other regular features, it has a private browsing mode, improved security, smooth and fast browsing, built-in spelling checker, and allows for various customisations. I personally love its add-ons which are open source developments. Firefox 4 is probably the best browser right now in terms of features. Based on its success, Mozilla has now launched a mobile web browser as well.

2. Google Chrome

Google Chrome was developed in December 2008 by Google targeting users who wanted a simple browsing experience. And it became successful in a short span of time due to a very effective advertising campaign by Google, plus the Google Chrome is very good web browser.  Google Chrome was the first browser which emphasised on maximising browsing window space, which was later followed by the leading browsers like Internet Explorer and Firefox. Google Chrome skins allow users to customise the browser’s layout to heighten their browsing experience. Adding to its list of innovative features are fast startup times and incognito browsing.

3. Opera

Developed by Opera Software and available to the public in 1996, Opera’s unique feature is its integrated Bittorrent client. Acclaimed as the fastest web browser, Opera is geared with all the features of the mainstream browsers. One of the best features of Opera is its “Opera Turbo Mode“. This mode speeds up (doubles or triples) surfing on slow connections by using Opera’s proxy servers to compress data and image traffic before it reaches the Opera browser on the client computer.
Opera was the first web browser for mobile phones.

Top 3 Web Browsers for Mac

There are hundreds of different browsers out there if you own a PC and a lot of people believe that the best browser is certainly not the browser that comes with the Windows operating system. However, if you own a Mac, which is becoming more and more common these days, there aren’t that many browsers to choose from and you might think that you’ll be stuck with Safari. There are a lot of great Mac browsers out there however, and we have rounded up a list of top 3. Enjoy!

1. Safari

Experience the web, Apple style, with Safari: the fastest, easiest-to-use web browser in the world.

With its simple, elegant interface, Safari gets out of your way and lets you enjoy the web faster than any browser.

In addition to loading web pages 1.9 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and 1.7 times faster than FireFox 2, Safari runs JavaScript up to six times faster than other browsers.

Arrange your tabbed windows with just a drag and drop. Instantly and graphically locate any text on the current web page with the new find command. Easily find webpages you have visited with full history search that remembers the text content of sites.

Here are some key features of "Safari":
· Blazing Performance: Safari is the fastest web browser on any platform.
· Elegant User Interface: Safari's clean look allows you to focus on the web and not on your browser.
· Easy Bookmarks: Organize your bookmarks just like you organize music in iTunes.
· Pop-up Blocking: Say goodbye to annoying pop-up ads and pop-under windows.
· Inline Find: Search any text on any website with the integrated Find banner.
· Tabbed Browsing: Open and switch between multiple web pages in a single window.
· SnapBack: Instantly snap back to search results or the top level of a website.
· Forms AutoFill: Let Safari complete online forms for you, automatically and securely.
· Built-in RSS: RSS tells you when new content is added to your favorite sites.
· Resizable Text Fields: Resize text fields on any website: Just grab the corner and drag.
· Private Browsing: Keep your online activities private with a single click.
· Security: Apple engineers designed Safari to be secure from day one.
LION:
· Safari 5.1.5 contains a fix for an issue that could affect website usability when running Safari in 32-bit mode.

SNOW LEOPARD:
Safari 5.1.5 contains improvements to usability and stability, including changes that:
· Fix an issue that could affect website usability when running Safari in 32-bit mode
· Fix an issue that could affect the stability of Software Update on Mac OS X Server v10.6.8

2. OmniWeb

OmniWeb is designed to provide you with the best user experience you'll find in a web browser.

People who use and love the Mac (and Mac OS X in particular) do so because of the sum of all the little things; the attention to detail that makes the Mac user experience superior.

Omni knows this, and built the only browser that has the same level of detail. OmniWeb draws on the full beauty of Mac OS X's Quartz graphics, and truly leverages the Aqua interface with drawers, sheets, customizable toolbars, and more.

OmniWeb comes with great on-screen help built right in to the application, accessible from the Help menu.

More than just a pretty face, OmniWeb comes packed with cool features that make your time on the web more efficient, and more fun.

OmniWeb puts you in charge of your browsing experience rather than viewing you as a source of personal information and advertising revenue, as some other browsers do.
Here are some key features of "OmniWeb":

Tabs:
· When you're viewing a bunch of web pages in a single window, you need to be able to differentiate between them easily. Because hey - no one wants to open the wrong page in front of their boss. Yeah, most web browsers have tabs. It's just that ours kick more butt. In your tab drawer, thumbnail graphics make it a breeze to identify several web pages at once.
· You can quickly switch back and forth between them, change their position in the drawer, create new tabs on the fly, and even drag and drop tabs from one window to another. And when you have a whole boatload of pages in one window, you can change to a list mode so you don't have to scroll. Scrolling's for chumps.

Shortcuts:
· We know what it's like to be working away when all of a sudden, it pops in your head: WHO WAS THAT GUY IN THE MOVIE ABOUT THE THING? You need to know, stat.
· Sometimes you just need to search a particular website on the fly. Maybe you're in a tiramisu-recipe-finding contest! Um, or maybe you just need to find a stock quote or DVD review. With OmniWeb, you can build shortcuts to any searchable website, like Google or the Internet Movie Database.
· You can save space on your toolbar by typing your shortcut keywords into the location field, or you can create a Search Shortcut field where all your shortcuts are available from a drop down menu. Either way, you get what you're looking for on the double, and bonus: you look all Smarty Von Smartypants! ("Oh, Crom was played by Peter Jurasik. Duh.")

Ad Blocking:
· With OmniWeb, you can do much more than simply block those irritating "Click here to win!" ads. You can choose to view pop-ups only when you ask for them (ie, by clicking a link), you can tell OmniWeb to block any ad content coming from a known ad server, you can block all Flash content - and much more.

Workspaces:
· Let's say you have 263 different web pages open. You're browsing away. You're on FIRE. But wait - what's this? You need to restart your computer? What about all the pages? Won't somebody think of the pages?
· Calm down! If you're using OmniWeb, no problem. They're all still there. With our stylin' new Workspaces feature, you can save your individual browsing sessions in one handy location.
· When you create a workspace, OmniWeb saves information like which web pages you have in your tabs, your history, and even the location of the windows on your screen. You can drag and drop the contents of one workspace to another, and you can even email workspaces to other OmniWeb 5 users so you can share that Britney Spears collection. Not that you, um, have one, or anything.

Auto-Saved Browsing Sessions:
· When you're using OmniWeb, simply click a checkbox that says "Auto-save while browsing" to save your individual browsing sessions, like which web pages you have in your tabs, your history, and even the location and configuration of the windows on your screen.
· When you quit OmniWeb, all the information is saved, and upon launching again your entire workspace is restored just as you left it. This is especially useful when you need to restart to apply the latest Security Update or if you happen to (gasp) crash while browsing.

Bookmarks:
· There's more to our bookmarks than just being able to save your favorite websites. Oh yes. MUCH more. We'd tell you, but then we'd have to kill you.
· Or not. What, is this web page gonna whap you in the head, or something? Anyway, ahem - bookmarks. So! OmniWeb's bookmarks are more powerful than ever, with filtered views of bookmarks and history that lets you easily see your most visited web sites or all the bookmarked pages that have been updated since you last visited them.
· The Site Preferences bookmark collection lets you easily see and edit all sites for which you have set custom preferences. And, using Rendezvous, OmniWeb allows you to share your bookmarks with other OmniWeb users on your local area network.

RSS News Feeds:
· The RSS (Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication) format has arguably become the dominant format for distributing news headlines on the internet. Now you can use OmniWeb's built-in 'News Feed' bookmarks for viewing XML/RSS feeds from many popular web sites right in OmniWeb's bookmarks. It's a snap to stay on top of the latest website and blog headlines without having to use an external application. (Blog. Heh. We just like saying that. Blooooog.)

Site Preferences:
· Repeat after us: your web browser should not be a television. It's a software program. It should let you control stuff. I mean, who's in charge around here? The internet - or YOU?
· The web is chock full of annoying things like pop-up windows, text that's difficult to read, cookies that invade your privacy, and blinking banner ads that are apparently designed for the sole purpose of giving us all monstrous headaches. What if you could control all of that? Enter OmniWeb, and Site Preferences.
· On each individual domain you can customize how you interact with the content; change the text size, tell OmniWeb where to save downloads for a particular site, even specify which sites you want to allow pop-up windows and advertising on. You're the one who should be in control, so get out there and wield your newfound power. Fly my pretties! Fly!
